Pros

  • The game includes two of the extended game's features: the Flying Club and the Gryffindor Dueling Club.
  • Graphics are true to the Harry Potter movies and actors.
  • Controls are easy and game play is fairly simple, making it an ideal game for young players.
  • Music and sound are faithful to the movies.
  • Graphic motion throughout most of the game is smooth and stutter-free, particularly in the flying and Quidditch practice.
  • Art, scenery and graphics of the Quidditch pitch are particularly exciting.
  • Intro scenes give players a hint at the events in the game's full version.
  • Players become the Seeker of the Golden Snitch and can practice their Quidditch skills in the Flying Club portion of the demo as good preparation for the game's full version.
  • Players are also able to cast spells and test their skills against other Hogwarts students during the demo's duels.

Cons

  • The demo is a fairly large download for just two featured events.
  • Users may have issues with downloads on recent Microsoft platforms, including Vista and Windows 8. Patches and fixes are not available, so the demo game runs best on computers with older versions of Windows.
  • Players may not be able to enable game pads or modify any default keyboard controls with this trial version.
  • Graphics are not nearly as crisp and polished as the graphics in other current games.
  • The characters' facial movement is a bit wooden and stiff.
  • The game is short and doesn't invite much re-play once players have successfully maneuvered through both featured events.
  • While good for young players, game play may be too simplistic for older or more practiced users.

Players become Harry Potter and hone their skills at wizardry, dueling and flying in this demo version of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
